麻省理工學院（MIT）史隆管理學院（Sloan School of Management）傑出教授，專精於策略、產品開發，以及電腦軟體、汽車、消費性電子產業的創業，也是麻省理工學院工程系統組的成員。擔任九十家企業的顧問，包括英特爾、奇異（GE）、AT&T、思科（Cisco）、福特（Ford）、富士通（Fujitsu）、西門子（Siemens）、德州儀器（Texas Instruments）與東芝（Toshiba）等。
曾任《史隆管理評論》（MIT Sloan Management Review）總編輯與董事長，2009 年曾被 Silicon.com 選為「資訊科技業百大最有影響力人物」之一。出版過多本書，包括《軟體產業》（The Business of Software）、《微軟祕笈》（Microsoft Secrets）、《平台領導力》（Platform Leadership）、《超越精實》（Thinking Beyond Lean）、《新經濟的策略思考》（Strategic Thinking for the Next Economy）等。《策略企業》（Strategy + Business）雜誌於 2011 年將他的最新大作《耐力致勝：管理策略與創新的六大永恆法則》（Staying Power: Six Enduring Principles for Managing Strategy & Innovation in an Uncertain World）列選為企管好書。
